Welcome to the Minnesota Alpha Chapter of Pi Beta Phi! Our chapter is home to a diverse group of passionate, genuine, and confident women. Despite our majors, our interests, or our hometowns, we share a bond deeper than that of friendship, and closer to that of family. I am so grateful that Pi Phi has given us a unique bond that we will be able to cherish and keep for the rest of our lives. The countless laughs and memories that I have shared as a Pi Phi are unparalleled to any others, and I would not be the woman I am today without my lifelong membership in Pi Beta Phi.
Pi Beta Phi consistently strives to make a positive impact in the community. This past year, our chapter raised over $10,000 for our national philanthropy, Read. Lead. Achieve. In addition to this, our chapter was named a Phi level chapter at the 2017 convention, recognizing us as one of the top 10 Pi Phi chapters.
It is such an honor to serve as the Chapter President for over 150 women who motivate and inspire me to be the best version of myself every day. I invite you to explore our website to find out more about what it means to be a member of Pi Beta Phi!
Pi Phi Love and Mine,
Anna Lee (far right) has been an intern with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx since she was a freshman at the U of M in 2015. Previously, she worked in the Hospitality Activation Department, and currently works in the Event Marketing Department. She has been a part of the organization for 3 NBA Timberwolves seasons and 1 WNBA Lynx season.
Stefani Klapperich (left and right, respectively) is working toward her Associates for the Society of Actuaries, and has passed both the probability exam and the financial mathematics exam, each which take about 300 hours of studying. Eventually, she would like to earn her Fellowship for the Society of Actuaries. This summer, she will be working at Deloitte as an Actuarial Consultant Intern in the Human Capital Division. Stefani served MN Alpha as Vice President of Housing in 2017. She also loves to run and has completed 3 marathons!
Ellen Jerome worked at an inpatient neuro-psychiatric clinic in Madrid, Spain in the Summer of 2017. She was able to observe psychologists and psychiatrists facilitate group therapy sessions to patients with severe and persistent mental illness. She engaged patients in daily therapeutic activities including cognitive intelligence games and stress reduction strategies. This experience increased her understanding of severe mental health and solidified her interest in a career in mental health counseling.
Emily Nash is a member of the Alpine Ski Team on campus. She has been racing since she was 10 years old, and she travels to compete with other schools at weekly competitions. She won the race at Chestnut Mountain in Illinois this year and the girls' team recently qualified for nationals in Lake Placid, NY. Her favorite thing about her team is how everyone is different but all share the same love for skiing.
Veronica Thomas is currently working as a Teaching Assistant for a Constitutional Law class that emphasizes the judicial system, civil liberties, and civil rights. When she was in the class, she learned about the ins and outs of the Bill of Rights and the 14th Amendment, and also gained valuable skills such as how to brief cases. Veronica wants to be a civil rights attorney in the future and advocate for those who may not have a voice in the judicial system, and being a TA allows her to help students in her class that share her same ambitions.
Brie Raiolo is a volunteer with The Aurora Center for Advocacy and Education at the U of M as a violence prevention educator, and at Mental Health Minnesota as an ambassador. She is also pursuing the 80 hour training to become a Certified Peer Support Specialist; a position which will allow her to work on various crisis lines. These positions will help prepare her for her career in the Counseling Psychology Field. She is also the Panhellenic Delegate for Greeks Against Sexual Violence.
Cassidy Gobran (right) will be working as an IT consultant with a focus in risk and cybersecurity consulting for Baker Tilly in Minneapolis after graduation in 2018. She interned there this past summer and is currently working part time as she finishes up her last semester of school. Her favorite parts of her job are the team, which is composed of other young and hard working people, and the opportunity to work with people from all different types of organizations. Cassidy also served MN Alpha as Chapter President in 2016.
Madeleine McDonnell (right) will be working as a management advisory consultant for PwC in Chicago after graduation in 2018, and is hoping to work in either the healthcare or retail industry. She will be traveling Monday through Thursday each week in a fast-paced problem solving environment.
Emma Hughes (right) will be moving to Denver, CO to work a recruiting and sales job for Insight Global in the fall after graduation in 2018. She is most excited to hike in the mountains on the weekends and for no sub-zero winter temperatures. Emma also served MN Alpha as VP of Communications in 2016 and VP of Membership in 2017.
Ali Larson will be interning at Boston Consulting Group this summer in Management Consulting. Last summer, she interned at Wells Fargo as a Corporate Banking Financial Analyst. Ali also served MN Alpha as Vice President of Event Planning in 2017.
Pi Beta Phi is built on the strong foundation that those before us have established, and we are grateful to have an organization we can share with our grandmothers, mothers, sisters, and daughters.
